The best rated robot vacuum Robot Hoover

The most effective robot vacuum will sweep and vacuum your floors with no effort. It also leaves them spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled as well as large debris, and wash them when required. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic hoovers vacuums we have test. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and an automatic hoover bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you own a lot furniture. Also, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
