WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item level Upgrade; Menwiki.men, upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade item cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will be less expensive, even if they are part of another set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
