Now is your chance to own a robotic vacuum. CNET's top-rated models are available for sale this Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with savings of up to 57%.
The Roborock Q7 Max offers strong pressure and smart mapping with app-based no-go zones, and its 180-minute runtime is awe-inspiring. It also self-empties and refills its water tank.
1. Roomba j7+ from iRobot
The Roomba J7+, iRobot's smartest robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its biggest innovation is its camera-based obstacle-detection system. It makes use of AI to recognize objects such as charging cords and shoes. It's also the first to automatically send you a photo of an object it encounters so you can tell it to stay clear of it in the future.
The Combo J7+ is the most effective mop-bot we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt effortlessly without leaving any trace that was there. The iRobot app makes it easy to control. You can schedule cleanings and even create Keep Out Zones to ensure that it doesn't clean in areas you don’t want. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start it and stop it by voice.
The design is also better than the other models. It has a sleek, high-end piece that appears like a toy rather than a loud and obnoxious robot vacuum price. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System automatically empty, which is great to speed up cleaning.
In our tests, we discovered that the j7+ was quick to eliminated dirt, dust and pet hair. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one location rather than sending it scattering across the floor. It even managed to catch small gravel and sand that other robots couldn't do. And all this without getting tangled up in our pet's hair shed.
The j7+, although not as intelligent as the Roomba S9, which costs $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot, and isn't able to clean the stairs, it's an option for those who require both mopping and a vacuum. It's not expensive and the iRobot application makes it user-friendly to use.
Although the iRobot Home app is very easy to use, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that utilize robotic cleaners. It can take a while to download updates, and often it's difficult to tell whether the update actually working until you see it in the action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you're looking to purchase an automated vacuum cleaner (read this post from Brokinvest) that can do more than just clean floors, your most effective option is likely to be a hybrid. These robots come with a water tank so they can vacuum and mop at the same time. They also come with a variety of additional features, including smart mapping, small obstacles avoidance, and even the capability to dry and wash mopping pads. They're costly at full retail but often are reduced on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
Roborock is the manufacturer of some of our favorite robotic vacuums, and the Q5+ is no exception. fail to impress. It's their cheapest auto-empty model, and while it lacks some of the premium features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing compromise a bit in order to save some hundred dollars.
The Q5+ is notably gentle around obstacles like tables and walls and walls, which makes it an excellent option for homes with a lot of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies. This is a area where most robot vacuums of lower quality fall short. The technology for navigation in the Q5+ is superb too, with very little misses in corners and on walls.
Like other Roborock devices like the Q5+, the Q5+ can be controlled by a few buttons on the device or via the Roborock app. Through the app, you can begin and stop cleanings and schedules, as well as create virtual barriers and no-go zones, and modify your home map, or change the labels of rooms.
If you select the Q5+ it comes with a new auto emptying dock that is designed to make this robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once it's installed it can be done easily. It also features an impressive LCD display that is great to have when setting up schedules or adjusting settings. This feature isn't necessary for most people but it can help you to keep the robot's maintenance schedules.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a smart, well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of vacuuming and mopping. Its design and functionality are some of the most advanced available - but it's also pricey.
Its base station looks good and hides it when not in use, and its dimensions are quite small. The station's main selling point is the fact that it automates a variety of tasks, functions and chores that other robots have to leave to you. It stores clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do) also emptying the dustbin after vacuuming, and helps keep your robot charged and clean.
Its vacuuming capabilities are also impressive. It's the only robovac I've used that has done an excellent job of removing dirt from floors that aren't. It's also not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.
The Freo X Ultra is not free of faults, especially in the area of navigation. Its LiDAR and laser sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs. This means it is sometimes stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of the home. It also can't climb stairs like other models and isn't equipped with a dock to create a cleaning zone for plush carpets.
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent option for those looking for a robot vacuum that does it all.
If you're looking to save money or aren't concerned about the limitations of the best robot vacuum cleaner, there are many other options on the market. Many of the eufy models cost considerably less. The eufy Qrevo curv, for instance is less expensive and has many more features, like stair climbing and a full-function Dock, which provides the ability to provide a more thorough vacuuming experience on bare floors carpets, low-pile carpets and even high-pile carpets.
4. eufy RoboVac G30
eufy is an Anker company that has a history of producing robot vacuums that offer the perfect combination of performance, features, and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different and offers a powerful house cleaning robot of hard floors as well as mopping functions as well as carpets at a price that is affordable. It's simple to set up by snapping one of the side brushes on, turn it on and plug in the charging dock. The app takes you through a few steps to connect it to Wi-Fi, and the G30 is ready to go. You'll need to place the dock close to a power outlet and enough space for it to move, however.
The G30 is a tiny device that measures 2.85 inches in height, meaning it will be tucked away under couches and pieces of low-clearance furniture. Its design is more subtle compared to some rival models. It has a sleek black finish and three physical buttons for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs a spot in a spiral pattern for two minutes), Recharge and Spot Cleaner. It is also possible to connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to conduct cleaning without a schedule using voice commands.
The way that the G30 cleans is what differentiates it from its competitors. It makes use of an integrated map to create an image of the unmovable items in its path. It keeps track of the items it has cleaned and what it is unable to access. It automatically returns to the base to recharge, and then begins cleaning where it left off.
The elegant G30 has a few flaws. The iRobot Roomba 675 is much better built, incurs lower recurring costs, charges more quickly and has the same battery life, while providing better performance on floors with no carpet and carpets with low pile. It also has a bigger dust bin that doesn't have to be emptied as often and comes with the boundary strips to keep it away from certain areas. The G30 on the other hand is less expensive and is much more manageable to maintain. Its smaller size means that it doesn't need to be emptied as often, and it has less difficulty handling bulky products such as cereal.
